  BOMBAY JAYASHREE - OCTOBER 12, 2001
  SriRam Kumar - Violin
  Arun Prakash - Mridangam

Swaralaya was inaugurated on October 12th 2001, with Bombay Jayashree`s convert. She was accompanied by Sri Ramkumar on the violin and by Arun on mridangam. Dr.Gnana Shanmugam gave a brief inaugural speech before the concert started. Jayashree opened the concert with Vallabhanayaka, a composition of Muthuswami Dikshatar in the raga begada, an auspicious song for an auspicious beginning. She sang Sankarabaranam elaborately and rendered the Thyagaraga Krithi 'Enthuda Nilachithi Ve' majestically, with swara elaborations. Her rendering of Sri Balasubramaniam of Dikshatar in bilahari and Sakalam Brhmamayam in dharabrrikanada were very melodious and touched the clouds. A few other thukkadas were presented which were very good. The concert was marked by sruthi, shitya, swara and laya suddam. The accompanists gave excellent support. It was a faultless performance, Although there was a general feeling that it was a bit short.
