  SUDHA RAGHUNATHAN - June 01, 2003

Sudha Started the concert with Mathe Malayadvaja Pandya sanjathe,a composition in Khamas of Hariakesanallur Muthiaha Bhagavathar. It is a song suited to the pace of Sudha and it was exhilarating to hear her sing the piece and the swarajathis. This song set the tone for the rest of the concert. Siddhi vinayakam,Sadinchane,Nagumo and Padame thunai in valaj were all rendered beautifully and in quick succession. Shyama Sastri' s "Meenalochani Brova " in dhanyasi was laden with rasabhava and was the most beautifully rendered piece. Keeravani raga was given a prime place and Sudha took up "Kaligiyunte Kadha", a Thyagaraja composition, and presented it in all its splendour, with swaraprasthara. Then followed a barrage of thukkada pieces in tamill~ kannada ,and even a Meera Bajan. The ragamalika ,Sonnadai seidida sahasama, popularized by GNB brought nostalgic memories to many in the audience. The concluding piece was thillana in Revathi which superb. Sri Ramkumar on the voilen and Neyveli Skamda Subramaniam able supported the concert.
